Read why new members joined the Philippine Choral Directors Association in previous years! 2014
I have always wanted to become a member of the Philippine Choral Directors Association ever since they had their national convention in Davao three years ago.
Back then, I was still a college student so I was unable to join the convention. It was also the first time that I heard of the association.
I have informally been a choral conductor for three years in the Ateneo de Davao University. I was the conductor of the Subdominant 7 Ateneo College Chapel Choir, and to be completely honest, I fell in love with the craft as soon as I was taught how to do it.
However, I still knew in myself that there was so much more for me to learn. After I graduated in College, I immediately went to Manila to study choral conducting in the University of Santo Tomas, but that also did not turn out well due to financial difficulties, so I stopped and worked for a while.
For me the only thing I see in my future is to become a professional choral conductor. I am now planning to enrol in the University of the Philippines also to study choral conducting but that might also take a while.
At least, if I become a member of PCDA, I would still be able to educate myself in the world of choral conducting, singing and directing.
Early January of this year, I was invited by the Ateneo Resident Students Association Chorale to be their official choirmaster and conductor, and I willingly accepted the invitation. I have also been under the tutelage of Mr. Ronald Bello since May of last year and it was him who told me that I should definitely join PCDA.
I really want to become a member of this association because I know that there will be so much that I could learn here and that I can help other choirs become better thanks to you." (21 March 2013)
KEVIN MIKHAIL H. GOMEZ
"I joined PCDA because it is a good venue to meet other choral directors, share ideas and learn from others. The world of choral music, especially here in the Philippines, is very strong. However, it has not reached yet the recognition it deserves. PCDA is one way of recognizing not only the choral groups but the men and women behind the voices as well. PCDA is not only about the Philippines' choral scene. It also connects people to the international choral arena where Philippine choral groups are given high regards" (29 July 2011)

Since I came to know the existence of the group, I dare to know its programs and activities. That is why, when I have read through the internet that there will be a national convention in Davao City, without second thoughts, I at once grabbed the opportunity to apply and register. ……because I believe that joining this kind of organization would greatly help with my inclinations in music. Though I do not have a degree in music, I can still be trained by joining workshops/conventions in honing my singing and more importantly my directing/conducting skills. PCDA has greatly helped me a lot! The week-long national convention in Davao has equipped me to become a better chorister wherein most of the speakers are of world- class caliber. Also, some of its members are winners in different prestigious international choral competitions thereby making it a world class organization…… Moreover, I have invited other chorister here in the province to join the group -for them to be fully equipped in their chosen field……. MABUHAY ANG PCDA!!!" (28 July 2011)

"Why I would like to join PCDA?
"It is an honor to be a part of this group, at the same time, through PCDA I can be updated on the latest happenings in the choral world. Through PCDA I can meet friends from the different localities in the world, and I believe that I can also learn a lot from them about choral music. By joining this group, I also want to become a better conductor through the conventions and masterclasses that I will be attending and through the different experiences of the conductors around the world." (24 July 2011)
"I decided to join the Philippine Choral Directors Association to learn from the best of the best in the world of choral music. I also wanted to be in the company of musicians dedicated towards enhancing Philippine choral arts to be the best in the world. In PCDA everyone is welcome to speak their mind, share their talents and make new friends. PCDA also makes it easier for starting conductors like me to market our choirs' concerts, auditions and other events. Nothing beats being at the same league with the world's finest choral artists!" (18 July 2011)
"I want to join PCDA because I want to know the latest events in the choral world, meet new friends, and somehow share my music with my fellow conductors. I also want to have access to materials, workshops, concerts and discounts that I can get when I become a PCDA member." (6 July 2011)

"It is actually an honor to be part of this group. As an aspiring master conductor, I am very much eager to learn from fellow conductors. By joining this group, given its members with vast diversities of nationalities and conducting styles, and of course mostly conductors of the highest caliber, I am looking forward to learn new things, observe their work, keep in touch with their choirs, and hopefully be a distinguished Filipino choral conductor in the future. I look forward to a great year with PCDA!" (14 June 2011)

"Joining PCDA, it is one of my dreams that someday all choir directors in the Philippines will be linked with each other to share ideas and music, and most especially to be in fellowship every convention. Knowing each other is really a great help for all choir directors for it will help us inspire young and potential musicians. Kudos to all of us." (9 May 2011)
"I joined PCDA to gain friends in the choral community in our country, to gain more knowledge and grow musically which could help me enhance my way of handling choral groups, and to share with others the same passion and love for Choral music that flourishes in me. In short, i joined PCDA because of my love for music." (7 May 2011)
