Dr. Brady Allred, one of the most celebrated choral conductors in the USA today, is coming to the Philippines to hold a masterclass on August 4 and 5.Both sessions will start at 1:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia’s Hall inside the St. Scholastica’s College campus at Leon Guinto corner Vito Cruz Streets, Manila.
Known around the world for his choirs’ "exquisite choral singing," Dr. Allred will deliver lectures and conduct choral clinics during the two-day masterclass.The masterclass is the first project of the Philippine Choral Directors Association under its new visiting conductor program.Expected to participate are PCDA members from the various chapters nationwide.Non-member choral conductors, singers and enthusiasts are also invited to the masterclass.
Masterclass participants will work closely with Dr. Allred whose ensembles have been invited to the major festivals worldwide and have received honors including the Grand Prize at the Florilège Vocal de Tours International Choir Competition, Grand Prize at the European Grand Prix International Choir Competition, and First Prize at the Marktoberdorf International Chamber Choir Competition.
Dr. Allred is currently adjudicating an international choral competition in Indonesia along with PCDA President Jonathan Velasco and PCDA Director Mark Anthony Carpio, choirmaster of the Philippine Madrigal Singers.Dr. Allred recently hosted Velasco at the University of Utah where the former is the Director of Choral Studies and conductor of the award-winning University of Utah Singers and the A Cappella Choir. He is also the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Salt Lake Choral Artists, a critically acclaimed community group.
